VLOG 3-28-12: The Hunger Games

“The Death Games” would be a bit more accurate, though not as marketable.

  1. I can’t wait for you to read the books so you can understand why your review was so enjoyable. A lot of things you talked about were spot on in the book. Though the book doesn’t play up the love triangle until Catching Fire, and the violence isn’t really mentioned, though that’s because it’s all from Katniss’s point of view. But yeah, as a huge fan of the books, I loved the movie. Great review, I’m sharing it with all my Hunger Games friends.

  2. For what it’s worth, Suzanne Collins swears blind that she’d never heard of Battle Royale until well after the first book was published and people started pointing out the similarities; she claims she came up with the idea while flipping channels between a reality show and the news. (She could be lyinng, of course, but that’s her story.) As for the love triangle, yeah, that gets played up a lot more in the second and third books, but at least Katniss doesn’t give birth via dental C-section.
